From a cameraman at Bombay Doordarshan to TV serials and International films, Suresh Suvarna has come a long way. During his initial days with Bombay Doordarshan, he went on to assist K Vaikunth, one of the most prominent cinematographers in the history of Indian cinema. Sometime later he went independent and delved into ad films and TV serials. His first serial as an independent cameraman was Yugandhara, in Marathi, which incidentally was also co-produced by him. This got him immense recognition and soon he was flooded with offers to do Marathi serials. He worked with the best of banners and at one time, had three serials on air at the same time. He was awarded with a trophy for this achievement. Director Raman Kumar saw a suspense Marathi serial Aabhash, directed by Rajan Waghdhare, and offered Tara to Suresh Suvarna.
Suresh did 162 episodes of Tara, one of the most popular serials on Zee TV. After Tara, there was no looking back. Suresh went on to do all the best serials. It was during this time that opportunity came knocking in the form of a project from Indonesia. He was offered a serial as a D.O.P. (Director of Photography) in four mega serials. He revolutionised photography in Indonesia. Three of these serials won the Panasonic award for technical excellence.
Over the years, he has shot memorable ad films, including those for Esselworld and Fiat Palio. His repertoire includes corporate films for Goa Shipyard, Batliboi, Oman Tourism, Mahindra’s among a host of other brands. Suresh even had the opportunity to shoot various socially sensitive documentaries for Columbia Tristar, USA.
